Choosing between electric and wood-fired

An electric heater is the easy answer: a timer, a switch, and heat in forty minutes without carrying anything.

A wood-fired stove takes longer and asks more of you. It also works when the power is out, costs nothing to run, and is the reason a lot of people wanted a sauna in the first place.

If the sauna is at the bottom of the garden and the cable run is long, the stove often wins on cost before anything else is considered.
